Established in 2008, Salute to Our Troops Texas is a special event dedicated to honoring the brave men and women of the Armed Forces, past and present, and to their families, for their unwavering courage, service and sacrifice.

In three short years, through Robin Young-Ellis' strategic and successful coordination, the event quickly gree from 500 active duty and reserve military troops and their families to 2300 active duty and reserve troops and their families and post 9-11 wounded military heroes.

In 2010, by invitation and support of the Houston Livestock Show, Young-Ellis passed on her program to the show to establish the first task force in 2010. Then, in 2011 the first Armed Forces Appreciation Committee, of which Young-Ellis remains active as the committee chairman, was established. The Armed Forces Appreciation Committee coordinates and hosts the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Armed Forces Appreciation Day

With Young-Ellis still serving actively as committee chairmen on the Armed Forces Appreciation Committee, Salute to Our Troops Houston Texas will continue the tradition as a display of gratitude for the troops' heroic patriotism, valiant service and personal sacrifice vowing never to forget the men and women that serve this great country, state and city of Houston.
